The Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (IMA) (ISSN: 2213-9567), the first international English journal on magnesium alloys in the world published by Elsevier and run by Chongqing University, was officially included in the SCIE database. The coverage starts from the first volume in 2016. It is the first journal of Chongqing University to be officially included in SCIE database.

 

The first volume of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was published by National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys in collaboration with Chinese Committee for Magnesium and Its Application, CCMA in 2013. It is the first international academic journal focusing on magnesium and its alloys. Academician Pan Fusheng of Chongqing University acts as the editor in chief and Professor Peng Xiaodong acts as the managing associate editor. The editorial board members are well-known experts in magnesium alloys from more than 10 countries like the USA , Australia , Canada , Japan and Russia . Some of them are globally famous scientists serving as editor in chief of international journals Acta Mater and Mater Sci Eng, NAE members, president of Korea Society for Composites Materials, and chairman of International Magnesium Association. Members of the Editorial Department are young doctors who have studied abroad, including Yang Yan and Song Jiangfeng.

 

Magnesium alloy is one of the lightweight materials with the largest potential in the 21st Century, and has been drawing extensive attention from various countries in the world. JMA, as the first international English journal on magnesium alloy in the world’s magnesium alloy industry, has been substantially supported by Chongqing University and international and domestic academic circles and KeAi since its first issue. Academician Chang Xu, a well-known material scientist of China has written the preface for the journal and is now acting as its honorary editor in chief. Since its first issue in 2013, the academic quality and influence of this journal have both been improving. In 2018, it was supported by the Phase-II Project of International Influence Promotion Program for Scientific and Technological Journals of China. By now, JMA has been included in a series of internationally important databases like SCIE, ESCI, Scopus and CA. The inclusion of JMA in SCIE database is of great strategic significance for expanding application of magnesium alloys and enhancing the academic level and influence of the world’s magnesium alloy industry.
