In order to promote the international cooperation and exchange with countries along the “Belt and Road” in areas such as engineering education, promote interaction and integration of engineering technology, engineering culture, engineering spirit and engineering standards, and exchange experiences in reform of engineering education, the 13^th International Seminar on Science and Education Development Strategy and Cultivation of Engineering Science and Technology Talents Given the “Belt and Road” Initiative, organized by Zhejiang University and Chinese Academy of Engineering, is being held from November 8 to 10, 2018 in Hangzhou. Zhang Zongyi attended the Seminar and delivered a keynote speech upon invitation of Professor Zou Xiaodong, the chairman of the Organizing Committee, chairman of the Specialized Committee on Engineering Education of Higher Education Academy of China, and secretary of CPC Zhejiang University Committee.

 

 

Zhang Zongyi delivered a keynote speech titled “interdisciplinarity, capacity, open practice and international horizon – The exploration and practice in reform of engineering education of Chongqing University against the backdrop of the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative” at the Seminar, in which a comprehensive introduction was given to the milestone achievements attained by Chongqing University in implementation of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and the practical exploration carried out in cultivation of international engineering talents. Zhang also explained the necessary “knowledge, capacity and quality” of an international engineering talents against the backdrop of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and proposed the thoughts and paths of cultivation of such talents. In the last part, Zhang expressed his expectation for innovation of the “full chain” international talent cultivation modes and building of the integrated international industry-university-research-teaching platform.

 

The speech delivered by Zhang Zongyi was well received by the experts and representatives present. They believed that the exploring and practicing efforts made by Chongqing University in cultivation of international engineering talents.

 

 

This International Seminar is focusing on the theme “cultivation of engineering science and technology talents against the backdrop of the Belt and Road Initiative”. At the Seminar, attendants have had extensive and profound discussion about the joint promotion and facilitation of cooperation in higher engineering education and prioritized key cooperation areas with countries along the “Belt and Road”. The International Alliance of Engineering Education for the Belt and Road was established jointly by more than 10 organizations, among which there is Zhejiang University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Harbin Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, University of Novi Sad, China Communications Construction Group, Uunku Abdul Rahman University, Hengyi Group, Aliyun University, and Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group Co., Ltd.
